- San Diego CA Electrician, Point Loma Electric-Safety Checklist
Make sure your home and it's occupants are safe from electrical hazards. More house fires are started by electrical problems than any other source.
- Upgrading Your Electrical Service
Should you consider a meter upgrade for your home?
Older homes where not built to handle todays modern applicances such as vacuum cleaners, microwaves, air conditioners and space heaters. If your home is more than 30 years old, you may not have enough power coming into your home and may need to upgrade your electrical service.
- Outlets not working
One tripped GFI outlet can be the cause for several electric plugs not working in the home, garage or outside. Try pressing the "test" button and then the "reset" button on the outlets that have quit working. In most cases this will immediately resolve the issue.
- Outlet or switch is warm to the touch
If you have an outlet or wall switch that feels hot to the touch then you need to have them inspected and repaired right away. The hot outlet or switch maybe caused by a power overload, loose wire connection or weak contacts inside the device.
- Unlicensed contractors
Are you ready to have some electrical work installed or maybe an electrical problem or two repaired? You have to consider "How much is this going to cost me?" People advertise things like "the lowest prices in town", "I'll beat any estimate", "No job too small or No job too big", "I'll fix any problem" or "I can do it all". This sounds very good and maybe they really do know this profession that well.
- Flickering Lights
The most common reason for flickering fixtures would be a loose connection some where in the wiring system. A loose twist-on connector can result in all sorts of trouble. The bad connection can also be within the main power connection on the outside of your home or building, inside the electric panel or in the wiring circuitry.
- Parital Power Outage
If you are experiencing a power outage in part of your home or a building, a common reason that your outlet(s) or light(s) are not working is a tripped circuit breaker. Circuit breakers trip when they are overloaded* or when there is a short in the system. This is to prevent an accidental electrical fire.
